Solid Waste & Recycling

Several communities within the County offer garbage collection, see below for more information on garbage haulers.

You may choose to self-haul waste directly to a transfer station. There is a permanent transfer station in Hinckley, and smaller transfer stations located in Willow River and Pine City. These locations accept any garbage except for hazardous waste, liquid waste, explosives, infectious waste, radioactive waste, medical waste, human remains, sewage and septic pump outs, etc. If you have a unique waste product we suggest calling for more information.

Burning household garbage in burn barrels, stoves, and fire pits creates pollution that's dangerous to human health and contaminates the air, water, and soil. It's also against the law for most homeowners in Minnesota. Click here for more information on burning or on the the State laws prohibiting backyard burning.
