Septic permit applications are required for a variety of purposes. Licensed septic designers and installers typically complete the application forms and submit to the county for review.
A permit shall be obtained whenever any Subsurface Sewage Treatment System in Pine County is
- installed, replaced, altered, repaired, or extended.
Permit Not Required
Permits are not required for repair or replacement of pumps, floats or other electrical devices of the pump or baffles in a septic tank.

A property owner installing a SSTS to treat wastewater solely from their own dwelling or a seasonal dwelling may install their own system without a license providing the following conditions are followed:
A. The system must be designed by an individual licensed in accordance with Minnesota Rules, Chapter 7083.0700, Subp. B.
B. The property owner must possess an approved permit issued by the Department and schedule a pre-construction inspection with the Department prior to installation.
C. The property owner must comply with all other provisions of this Ordinance.
