Effective August 3, 2020 the County Zoning Department will provide consistent staff availability during business hours at the County's Sandstone Campus (1610-Hwy 23 North, Sandstone).  Two zoning technicians will remain stationed out of the Courthouse in Pine City and will be available by appointment only. The Zoning office at the Courthouse in Pine City will remain available as a drop-off location for zoning and septic system applications, etc.


The Pine County Planning and Zoning Office provides a wide range of services to the public. We issue building site permits, septic system permits, minor subdivision certificates, and process residential subdivision & development requests. We also administer county-wide Shoreland Zoning.

The planning and zoning office is also involved the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program Floodplain Management Maps and data, and several other services such as information on Oak Wilt, Department of Agriculture noxious plants, and shoreland preservation tips.

EFFECTIVE 4/13/2018 Pine County is now the regulating authority for the Wetlands Conservation Act. Contact the Pine County Planning and Zoning office for projects impacting non-public water wetlands.
